These are our district’s priority standards that are used in the decision-making of what needs to be taught. Over the last 2 years, the social studies department has been developing our priority standards and how they should be taught and assessed.
- Sets and communicates high expectations for the social, behavioral, and academic success of all students.
- This is how I communicate with students to my expectations for student learning. They are told prior to the lesson what the objective is. This gives the students the “Big Picture”, that way there is no confusion as to what we are learning and what I expect.
- Uses students’ developmental needs, backgrounds, and interests in planning for instruction.
- Selects strategies to engage all students in learning.
- Uses available resources including technologies, in the development and sequencing of instruction.
